The Secret World of Arrietty

While not officially a Miyazaki film, it was close enough. He wrote and produced the darn thing. I can kind of see why he didn't want to direct this himself - it does seem a bit minor compared to the craziness of most of his films.

It is gentle and nice and fun to watch. Like all Studio Ghibli films, it looks incredible. It wasn't really for soon to be 3-year-olds though but they stuck it out. Sam said his favorite part was when the little people got stuck in a jar. Otis said his favorite part was when it was over.

Directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi
2010, U.S. Release: 2012
34th St.

Amelia loved it, maybe the slightly older age and gender...but damn raising two harsh critics. I thought best english overdub acting of any of the adaptions, and I liked how it was a simpler story. Can't all be acid trips.

Oh yeah - I definitely liked how it was simpler. But when they started getting restless, it messed with my enjoyment of the movie. "Can't be all acid trips" should be used in the promotional ads!

They enjoyed the first 45 minutes quite a bit but then they started getting a bit antsy. Otis did like it a bit but didn't really have anything to say about it other than he thought it would have been better if it had been in Farsi.
